I’d like to take a moment to share a wonderful story about finding greatness.

Now I met a lovely mother at a coaching seminar a few years ago and every night when she’d put her 5 year old son to bed she’d tell him…

There’s greatness inside you. Be the best you can be, and find your greatness.

And that’s exactly what he did. Embracing the sentiments of the mantra, one day he had the idea that he wanted to walk for charity and walking 5 miles, a mile for each year of his life, he raised nearly £3000 in the process.

What can you learn from this?

Well firstly it’s so important to focus on being the best version of you and not anybody else. Your journey is unique and what may be a casual run for somebody else may be the hardest 5 mile walk of your life, but that’s ok, because crawl, walk or run, what matters is that you arrive and that you pushed yourself to be great.

Secondly our internal dialogues are so important. The conversations we have with ourselves have the potential to either empower us or destroy us. When the tone of your self talk is negative the ripples are felt throughout every aspect of your life. But by engaging in positive discourse with yourself this can lead to better self esteem, better relationships and a greater sense of achievement.

What should you take from this?

First and foremost put those blinkers on and forget about so and so and focus on your journey. It starts with the things you tell yourself and by acknowledging there’s greatness inside you. So go out there, perform to the fullest extent of your capacity and push the boundaries of your comfort zones. Be the best you can be and discover your greatness.

And remember you were born to be you.
